This morning, when we went downstairs, we noticed that Ton was sitting there nodding his head, which was the strangest thing to see, since he has always been very deliberate with his motions... every now and then he would cough this awful cough... I asked Mom about it and she said he had been that way since she got up... we discussed it a bit and decided that she would take him to the vet, while I got Joey off to school and then I'd meet her there... she called while I was on my way and said that they wanted to keep Win but to go ahead to work, then called back saying they'd asked her to stay... I dropped Joey off and headed that way...
I walked in there and spoke with the tech at the front desk who advised me that he had just passed... it was his congestive heart failure, as his lungs had filled with fluid and his heart just gave out... the vet was wonderful, telling us how it was lucky it was quick as it can be painful, and I've seen relatives go through it, so I know she's right, but we're all in a state of shock... this came on just oh so fast... he was fine Sunday, yesterday he was quiet, but he's a scottie, he's like that... definitely nothing to make us think this would happen, until the nodding and that horrible cough... it hurt me to hear him cough, so I'm glad he's not suffering anymore...
my mom is heartbroken, as is my Dad (they were still married when they got Ton about 9 years ago now and I had still been taking Ton to my Dad's for "visitation" on occasion)... as is Joey... we've told him that Ton is up in the stars with his Nannie now... so he asked if she'd send Ton back when she was done playing with him... no sweetie, but he's watching over you too now...
He had to talk to them (Nannie and Ton)... (imagine in a deep southern accent)... I love y'all but I don't love y'all for going away... then blew a whole mess of kisses and hugs to the stars...
Please keep my Mom and the rest of us in your thoughts. I have a convention that started everything that has happened... she was so upset today that they sent her home from work tonight, but I have to show up tomorrow and I'll be there through Friday... Joey can be a handful for her, but I feel horrible leaving for the convention right now, given and we've both cried many tears today...
*hugs*
