Let me try to be short and simple......I would love to hear others opinions....

Had a 10 year relationship with ex---we lived together with my children from first marriage; he had none.

Most of the years were great/good.

I don't think there's any "typical" reaction for men or women, but your SO's reaction sounds like guilt to me.

Yes, I figured it was a reaction to guilt....thank you for giving me your opinion.

He can do what seems like "shutting his emotions off", because he has done that for the last year...slowly turned of his emotions.

Sato1 and Laurvina, my experience sounds EXACTLY like yours...and I'm the H. I found it absolutely astonishing that my best friend could treat me that way! I could somehow understand her falling out of love with me, but to flush 16 wonderful years of friendship and companionship is just plain insanity to me. I never laid a hand on her and always treated her like my Queen. Some of the garbage I read about here with women putting up with guys makes me sick, and even more so when I think about my situation. I hope to be able to forgive her someday, but for now just functioning day-to-day is a struggle. I wonder if I'll ever trust anyone ever again.
