Postponed court....Grrrrrr

Well, my attorney called me a few minutes ago.

Our first court date was set for next Monday. Apparently, STBX's attorney can't make it so she told me to "pencil" it in for the 31st.

She told his attorney that would be fine BUT STBX will need to pay the mortgage for August. She said STBX is very "realistic", LOL, I guess that's how you describe a man who goes to his attorney after his wife serves him papers for cheating! So, keep your fingers crossed for me, at least to get the mortgage paid for another month.

In the meantime, I'm not having a good day. He stopped to see the kids last night and it really got under my skin. He actually walked in the house, asked what's for dinner and helped himself to a beer! What the heck?!?!?!? I was hoping to get the sole possession thing taken care of ASAP so I could change the locks.

Well, thanks again for listening. I am now convinced, if I survive this chaos, I can get through ANYTHING!

Hugs,
Jenn

I'm glad you're strong because you are going to need to be. I hate to say that the divorce is just a piece of paper(just like a marriage certificate)and it doesn't change their behavior. Things for me have actually gotten worse after everything was final. After all that money who wants to go back to enforce the contract. Unless you have a good "working" relationship with respect aside from the legal stuff, I sincerely wish you lots of luck. I agree with you about the locks, I would do it ASAP.

Nobody ever said you couldn't put those chain things on the inside of the doors??? It is a matter of safety, you need to protect yourself and your kids.

Jer-imagine the look on his face when he unlocks the door to find he can't open it more than 3 inches. Yeah may be more than a little devious, but you have a right to some privacy atleast.

That was EXACTLY what I was thinking.... at least a barrier of protection when she's home so that he can't just barge in.
