In praise of divorce

I got divorced five years ago, and things since then have been much better. I'm closer to my daughters, I'm working and loving my job and I found love again - though admittedly it didn't last. But it was fun for a while, and I'm happy being single again. I guess what I'm saying is that the big D isn't as bad as I always thought it would be - like people in my mother's generation thought.

This article seems to suggest that attitudes are changing, and women agree with me - read it, it's quite heartening! http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?menuID=2&subID=954

harajuku...

First...Pianoguy congratulates you for making the 'being married to being single' transition successfully. You're definitely happier about your life...AND THAT'S SOMETHING ALL OF US WANT.

The article you submitted was very informative. But you know something? It's not just women who find that marriage isn't always the right thing to pursue? MANY MEN HAVE DISCOVERED THIS AS WELL!

There are friendships out there that don't necessarily translate well into marriage, or even a FWB relationship. Sadly...it often takes 1 or 2 bad experiences for members of both sexes to realize that "being single can be a lot more satisfying?"

I too am thriving, not meerly surviving post divorce. It wasn't easy, but I made an effort to go through divorce recovery counseling, went back to school, and am quite content w/ single life. My kids are better off in most ways w/o all the fighting, instead seeing their mom rise phoenix-like and be happy, reliable, and stable again. Of course, when I was totally not looking for a new relationship, I met a wonderful man and am happy to have him in my life. I live in the present, one day at a time, with hope for the future.
