Pre Trial Conference?

I have an upcoming pretrial conference. My understanding is that we will go before the judge to see what progress we are making on the settlement. After this discussion there will be a trial date set if needed.

Unfortuantely my STBX became verbally and emotionally abusive. And, then after an incident of physical abuse he was removed from the home with a restraining order. We have not spoken in over 9 months. He is very manipulative and I feel more confident with the attorney negotiating for me eventhough it is expensive. He offered an initial settlement that was very unfair. I counter offered and that was never even entertained by him.

I am at a disadvantage as I have had to file multiple motions to get him to provide the financial document I need. He had a history of gambline and debt unknown to me. It is in my best interest to show that he diverted marital assets without my knowledge so I can get a better settlement.

Just wanted to know if anyone else here has been through a pretrial conference and can give me any advice.

My experience with this was the judge wanted to see if things were going anywhere and if the parties were cooperating. The judge ordered financial disclosures to be handed over - that was good because he was dragging his feet. Then another conference date was set and a potential trial date. I think the trial date was to get my former husband to get moving on negotiating to settle this nightmare. Not much got done that day but the process starting moving after that.

I have mine today at 2:00p at the courthouse. I feel like I am going to throw-up!
