Hi everyone..does anyone know if my H doesnt respond to the petition(he was served on Sept. 8th) what happens??? I dont think wants to acknowledge anything, we havent talked about it at all and i dont think he has gotten an attorney..Is this good or bad for me as he has about a week before the 30 day deadline is up...any advice appreciated!!

It's different in every state, take a look at your state family court website and you should find some kind of answer.

i didn't know the laws varied so much state to state. in FL if the other person doesn't respond to the petition that you are granted a defautl and the case goes on without the other person. my X refused to acknowledge any of the paperwork. he never showed up for court but i got my divorce anyway. i think they say there are some things they can't rule on without the other person being there, like alimony but mine D was pretty straight forward. i wanted out and to keep my DS.
