I'm going through the same. SAHM for 12 years, 2 daughters (12 and 4). My husband told me our marriage was over on Jan. 31 and moved in with his new girlfriend on Feb. 9. No divorce papers have been filed yet. It is just so overwhelming.


Anyway, here are some things for you to bring to a lawyer (I just copied and pasted right from my "divorce" folder, ha ha. sigh). Just some ideas. I checked out a lot of books from my library when my STBX first left. :


bank statements


mortgage papers


tax returns


pay stubs


insurance policies (life, health, homeowners)


employee benefit records


social security, retirement benefit statements


pension & retirement plan policies & statements


Here are some of my own things I've been going over with a lawyer:


What I want:


*half of gross for ten years, then just child support


*pay support for kids until 21 while in college


*pay percentage of child care


*percentage of cash medical (co-pay's, future expenses, etc.)


*the house, or all proceeds from sale of house


*all fees pertaining to divorce


*he pays for
