R/O hearing tomorrow....have some ?'s
| Mon, 10-31-2005 - 3:14pm |
I have a r/o hearing tomorrow that I filed against my ex. I'm very nervous and don't know what to expect. To we testify? What actually goes on in the hearing? Who actually gets to go into the court room?
Any answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated! I'm so nervous that it's about to make me physically sick.

If memory serves me correctly, you speak with a victim's assistance advocate first, and fill out a form. Then you go into the court, and wait your turn. The judge reviews your statement on the form, speaks with you, and rules on whether to grant a R/O. I think the victim's assistant waits with you, but I'm not sure. Check with the court personnel.
Good luck to you. Try to stay calm, and we're all pulling for you.

EDIT: My R/O hearing was in 2003, so I'm trying to remember other stuff that happened. I think I went in right after lunch, so it was fairly empty inside the courtroom. I guess it depends on how busy it is the day you go.
