Long time lurker here finally ready to start the process...I have seen mention of a separation agreement that you and spouse can fill out. I thought it was on the board information site but I can't find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I don't know where it is on this board, but I spoke to a lawyer yesterday and all it really is is an agreement between the two of you. If you have children and tied finances its good to do, but he cautioned me that both have to sign so it would be a waste of money if one doenst want to sign it...

So is it worth doing? I wasn't sure if would hold up in court but I thought it might be worth doing while we are getting along (for the moment, I know that can change at any time). He will be moving out in a couple weeks but I can't file for D until November because you have to live in this state for 6 months before you can file. I don't need any support from him, it was mainly to use for a child custody agreement for the next month or two.

Thanks for the reply!

There are some legal websites that have links to "do it yourself" forms that you can purchase and download.
