I notice that there are some posts about holidays, how to cope, changes, etc. and i wanted to share some of my own thoughts on this subject:

I was married and had a child, and was divorced. After i got divorced (my son was 3), all i wanted to do was 'get married'. in fact, all i wanted was to 'BE married'. i felt.... sad, like

sk1960...

Pianoguy enjoyed reading your post....simply because you solved "the age old problem" to being ALONE!

When we stop worrying how 'society' views us (at the holidays or any other times of the year)...we often make more progress in our lives?

There's no question that LONELINESS S**KS---particularly during this time of year, but you can only fall back on LONELINESS for a certain period of time. What's important is NOT COMPARING other peoples' lifestyles, but (instead)...trying to live a life that's pleasing to you...and immediate family (and friends) you come in direct contact with.

Happy Holidays and beyond!

sk1960, I can't thank you enough for posting that. Sometimes, during the holidays, if you're not chronically surrounded by people, you start to feel lonely, or start comparing yourself to others. At least, that's what I do.

During this month, unfortunately, I am not in the financial position to entertain (birthdays, holiday gifts, etc), but I definitely will after the holiday season. I feel much more "normal" after reading what you had to say.

that is true! my friend and I (she is divorced, remarried, in a blended family situation) always say that we are 'ahead of our times'.
