Unfortunately, I was never able to finish my undergraduate degree. I had to work full-time plus overtime so we could pay our mortgage, meet expenses, pay off my STBXs monster IRS bill etc. Even though STBX made a very good living, we never had enough money to pay for tuition, except for a class here and there. AND, since we were in such debt, I couldn't take on another loan for school.
So NOW...that the house was sold and the IRS debt was all paid....it looks like I am going to be able to get a loan to pay for my last two years of college!!! I am SO excited. Keep your fingers crossed that it's all going to work out. I am doing an external degree program, so most of my classes will be online, and I can do them outside of my work schedule AND still be home for my son.
I feel like there was always an excuse why we couldn't pay tuition while I was married. Now....I am just so happy that I am going to have a chance to do this.
So, has anyone else had other positive life changes after separation or divorce? New job? School? New place to live? New friends? I want to hear about it :)

Good Luck in school! Hugs, Brenda

Yea!.... that's awesome!
Why is it that men always seem to = debt, or at least, for me, that's how it works.

PG echoes the sentiments of the others and offers his congratulations when it comes to pursuing your education.
As far as 'positive life changes after a divorce' are concerned, I don't think anybody sets forth (as a divorced single) expecting GREAT THINGS TO SUDDENLY HAPPEN. It's more along the lines of what each of us chooses to do (or pursue) that determines whether we'll find success or not?

i went back to school a year ago too. my situation is a bit different because i live in a different country and our university system is a bit different (its more difficult and complicated than in the US). i started my BA in my 20s and never finished (almost, but didn't). anyway, they wouldn't recognize 'those' credits. they accepted something like 30 credits. i need 120 altogether to graduate. but---- i keep looking at the semesters as *14 week chunks*. by the time it starts - it finishes. i love school!!!! between you and me - i was a terrible student when i was younger, was content to get 70s and 80s. now - anything less than a 95 and i am upset lol
i am studying in a "real" university, not online. so it doesn't leave me alot of free time, between a full time job, home, son. but its great, i am really proud of myself.
of course, while i was still married, i wanted to go back to school and discussed this with my then-husband. and i didn't really need that much money because my work pays for alot of the tuition - i just lose some hours. anyway, his reply was "when are you going to do something that will be good for ME"
so i did something that was good for him - i walked out on his sorry bu**
good luck to you!
