Oh Emily I feel for you. You must be totally in shock. I recommend that you visit other boards on Ivillage in addition to this one. There is a "families damaged by pornography" group that can help you do deal with and understand your STBXs problem. His behavior likely fits the bill for "Sex Addict" and the people on that board know all about sex addiction.
You 100% did the right thing by calling the police. I'll bet your felt like vomiting when you found out--and maybe you still feel physically ill about it. You might want to look into 12-step groups for spouses of Sex Addicts in your area. SA-Anon is one that I have experience with and they were terrific. Patrick Carnes has some great books on the subject as well.
You are in a great profession. From what I hear there is enough of a need for nurses that when you return to the workforce you will have little difficulty finding a job.
