I had my appointment to get state help. They had told me when I applied that I could get a lot of help. When I went they told me I could get TANF. But I could not get my child support and TANF. If I choose TANF they would keep my cs to pay for it. It sounded really good I would get help and not have to deal with cs. So I decided to get the TANF. At the end of the interview she said okay your tanf will be 316 a month. I thought it was per kid. It turns out it is total. That's crazy my child support should be 1500 a month and they would keep it all and give me just the 3oo. I ended up stopping the tanf. I did get food stamps. It is 600 a month. I don't think I have ever spent that much on

$316!?!?!? I'm so sorry, that is terrible! At least you have taken the sting out of groceries, that will be a help. Remember, if stbxh really makes things impossible for you finanically, they can do a pendante lite (emergency) hearing faster than a regular court date.
