STBX not helping with repairs....

OK, so this weekend is a tax-free holiday here in Massachusetts. As I'm repairing some areas of the house in order to sell in a few months, I wanted to take advantage of the tax-free holiday and purchase some final items to complete the renovation. Not a terrifically HUGE amount of stuff, but some heavy stuff, such as enough siding and Tyvek for 2 sides of the house, enough pavers for a 10 X 10 patio, wood for a deck, plywood for the kitchen floor, and a drop ceiling for the basement. DB was most likely going to meet me at HD on Saturday, so we could get the flooring items.
I just called STBX a short while ago, and asked him if he could help with the transportation aspect. He was EXTREMELY non-committal, and was questioning me WHY I was doing this if I wasn't 100% sure that DB was coming up. I told him that I wanted to get this stuff REGARDLESS, as the savings were that significant. Then he said, "Oh, so you want me to be a MULE?" :rolling eyes: I said, "NO, I just don't think all this stuff will fit into just 2 vehicles safely. THAT'S all." Him: "Well, it's 5 days away, I don't know what my schedule is... it's Saturday and I have to be here at the shop..." Me: "Well, that's why I'm calling you NOW..." DUH.
Ya know, it just p1sses me off to NO end that he is such a jagoff about this. He can manage to do his Habitat for Humanity crap on the weeeknds with NO problem (it's all a show for when he has an audience and can act like he's being all selfless), but when we need to do stuff for OUR home, and ALL I'm asking him to do is assist with the transportation, he gives me some BS line of crap. I'll ask my dad if he can come up with his pickup truck...

Yeah, I am SO furious! STBX spends so much time and money fixing up 35 year old CARS, that can only be driven in NICE WEATHER, and in the meantime, our joint investment (the house) is falling down. And he can't see the logic in making the house nice to be put on the market. And he has my kids believeing that it's COOLER to have a hotrod than it is to maintain a home. STBX believes that life is actually like the movie "The Outsiders", with Greasers and Socs. Obviously STBX and DS's think they are "Greasers". And Socs are snobs, so a Soc would be someone who wants to have their house presentable and decent. :shudder:.
Last year, when my brother came up to install exhaust fans in the bathrooms (STBX didn't think venting them into the attic would cause an damage-- WRONG!!-- the home inspector said that the underside of the roof was mildewy because of it, and all the steamy air was rusting the roof nails), and crawled around all over the attic and insulation to get the fans evnted to the outside of the house, STBX waltzed up in his hotrod, and had the stones to say, "Your sister isn't going to thank you, so *I* will. Thank you, DB," all sarcastic-like. Which STUNNED DB and I-- I had already thanked him about 5 minutes before STBX showed up, and we just couldn't believe what a jagoff STBX was acting like.
