Hi everyone!
It's been awhile since I've posted on this board. For those who don't know my story, here are the cliff notes:
My STBX was embezzling money from his employer. He started doing this two months before we were married (nice huh?). I had NO clue what he was doing. A week before our 2nd anniversary he was arrested. I later found out that this wasn't the 1st time he done this. It's actually his 3rd. WTF!!! It's something out of a Lifetime Movie.
STBX is in very poor health. This actually helped him. Had he not be so sick he would have received 30 years in PRISON!!! Again.. WTF!!! The judge ordered him to 30 years probation with civil restitution.
I've been torn with the divorce only because of his health. I FINALLY realize that although I still love this man, he's not the one married. I have my 1st divorce hearing tomorrow and he told me he wasn't going (YAY.. makes it better for me). If all goes well, my divorce will be finalized in 60 days. I really can't wait.
Any tips for my hearing? Wish me luck for tomorrow! :)
Melissa

Good luck! It sounds like this is a good thing for you in taking care of yourself.
Remember the qualities that you THOUGHT you found in him and keep an eye out for those in other people.
I'm sure HONESTY will be a large priority for you in your future. :)

I'm glad you have the strength to go through with this.
As for the hearing, if you have an attorney, he/she will prepare you in advance. If not, just answer any questions openly and honestly. That's the best you can do. Also, you may feel emotional before or afterward, which is totally normal. Or, you may feel numb....also normal! No matter what, these hearings aren't nearly as scary as we make them out to be in our heads.
Follow me to my partner in the siggy exchange...
Thank you so much for the encouragement. This hasn't been easy.
Also, thanks for the tips. I have a lawyer and we plan on meeting an hour before the hearing. I have made the hearing out to be very scary. I was up 1/2 the night worrying about it. I just keep telling myself that this is the start of a new life. After today (with any luck) my divorce will be final in 60 days.
Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.
