I have been told by numerous wise women around here to think positively about my divorce and my life so today I am going to start with "ten good things about my husband leaving".I wish any of you to do the same with me. I know I will be able to learn a lot by reading others thoughts on this. Please post even if you were the one who filed. I need to see the good in this. Also I want to thank all of you who responded to my post below. Hugs to All of You!
1. I get a whole queen sized bed to myself. I love it!
2. More quality time with my children. Time I obviously wasted fussing over him.
3. I bought myself a recliner that he would have never allowed. It's beautiful. He would have hated it.
4. No more listening to "That's not how my mother does it."
5. I can go to bed when I want too. Don't have to wait up for him.
6. No more piles of his junk everywhere. He's a pile person and I hated it.
7. I don't have to make a full meal every night. The boys are content to eat PB&J, chips, and apple sauce that they cook themselves.
8. No more worrying if he is in a ditch dead somewhere. He never could call to tell me he was going to be late.
9. I can listen to my music whenever and however loud I like without him coming in to turn it down.
10. Less Laundry!!!!!!Yeah!
Hugs, Brenda

What a wonderful idea!!!!!
1) Having a king size bed to myself (well, my 3 yo sleeps there too)
2) No pee on the toilet rim or the bathroom floor
3) No stepping on a wet bathroom floor b/c he wouldn't dry off before getting out of the shower or mop up his mess.
4) No having to go to bed when he did.
5) I can sleep with the TV on.
6) I can have a 'lazy day', no rushing around trying to clean up before he gets home.
7) No worrying where he is or who he is with.
8) No more late night fights after he comes home drunk or doped up.
9) No more insults, being called stupid, lazy or b**ch in front of my children. Also no more having my children repeat these things and hearing him laugh about it.
10) No more being groped on!!!! If I wouldn't have sex with him he'd grope on me while he 'pleasured' himself..EWEWEWWWW!
I'm adding a #11: No more having to watch Sports Center three times a day!! I can watch whatever I want!!!!
Here are mine:
1) no more watching him play that online video game endlessly, like it is so important while I meant nothing
2) cleaning or not cleaning as I please
3) no adult temper tantrums because we don't have enough money for him to have an expensive new 'toy' of some kind
4) no more fixing his problems as if I was his mother
5) no more wondering if he's ever going to touch me without me having to beg
6) no more being horribly unsatisfied by sex when we finally did have it
7) no more being embarrased in social situations because he always found the wrong thing to say
8) fewer 'discussions' about parenting differences
9) no more explanining to family why he failed to show up again, trying to hide the fact that he just didn't care about my family
10) LESS LAUNDRY - I love that one
Hi Brenda,
Glad to see you're feeling better about your situation! Great topic, too! Here's my top 10:
1. Like the other ladies, Queen-size bed all to myself, I can use a top sheet, which he hated. I also have plenty of room for my Nemo Moshi, and body pillow. He hated those, too. :-P
2. I can watch the Red Sox whenever I want, without him complaining. I also get to watch the aftergame show about the Red Sox. (Not much of a girl am I? LOL) EDIT: and the pre-game show, too! 5 hours of baseball a day! Love it, love it, love it!!
3. No more toilet seat in the upright position.
4. None of his sloppy hygiene "leavings" around the bathroom sink (splatters on the wall, oily glop around the soapdish). My bathroom is a girl palace now. :-D
5. I can read with the light on in the bedroom, without having to go out to the living room 'cause he didn't like the light on.
6. No one dry-humping my leg in the morning. Yet. :-D
7. I got the mail delivered at home. He always was paranoid about getting the mail delivered, so that was the FIRST thing I did. ;-)
8. TONS less stress from him not being here! WOOHOO! I don't have to listen to him stuttering and having a dramam queen hissy fit when he was called to the carpet on his bad behavior.
9. I plan on cleaning out the garage, and getting rid of the snips of wire, broken fans, pieces of leftover 2x4s and a urine stained piece of molding that he saved from the bathroom remodel because he wanted to save a few bucks and replace a piece of rotted exterior wood with it (shudder), rusty bent nails that he pulled out of the deck to try and straighten to save .39 instead of getting deck screws at Home Depot like a reasonable person would, broken bicycle pumps, CoolWhip containers with oil sludge at the bottom, leftover outdated electrical junk that he saved for NO GOOD reason, and all his other man-detritus that is clogging up my nice garage.
10. No more icky man-smell.
