I WANT TO SEEK COUNSELING WITH ME AND MY EX BUT HE SAID HE'S DONE. HE DID ASK ME TO GO 2 MONTHS BEFORE WE SPLIT AND I DECLINED. I HATE MYSELF NOW FOR THAT. MY STORY SHORT... MY X BF LEFT ME 3 WEEKS AGO AND OUR 2 KIDS. HE COMES AND SEES THEM OCCASIONALLY AND WE TALK OCCASIONALLY. I THINK HE HAS A NEW GIRL. I AM GOING CRAZY. 6 YEARS!!!! AT LEAST YOU GUYS ARE SEEKING COUSELING. I REALLY BELIEVE THAT WILL MAKE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WORK. LIKE EVERYONE HAS BEEN TELLING ME LATELY (SINCE WE BROKE UP) BOTH PEOPLE HAVE TO GIVE A LITTLE TO MAKE A RELATIONSHIP WORK. I GAVE NOTHING!!! I NEED ADVICE TO. JUST KEEP IN MIND, YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. HE IS YOUR DAUGHTERS FATHER. IF YOU WANT HIM BACK, SHOW HIM IT CAN WORK!!!

Each therapist is so different! After just one counseling session, the therapist is still getting to know you, so he/she will probably ask a lot of questions. When I go to my sessions, I find it helpful to bring a list of questions or goals that I need to work on. Sometimes, if I'm unprepared, I'm not sure what to talk about! Since you're early on in the divorce process, the therapist will probably focus on making sure you're caring for yourself and help you feel more confident and secure in your abilities as a single person/mom. I hope you have a good session!
