Is there anyone else in my situation?
| Tue, 03-07-2006 - 2:58pm |
My story is long, but I will make it considerably short for this post.
Basically, my dh (dumb husband) and I are getting a divorce because he wants to live the homosexual lifestyle.
There is WAY more to my story than that, but I was just wondering if anyone else can relate to this senario?
Thanks!
Carol

Hey there CJH...
On a personal level no, I can't relate. I did however go through the emotional turmoil vicariously with my girlfriend who knocked her ex's briefcase off the table one day.
Peace,
Di

Hi Carol - Welcome !

Hi Carol,
I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. Have you tried www.straightspouse.org ? Straight Spouse Network (SSN) is an international organization that provides personal, confidential support and information to heterosexual spouses/partners, current or former, of gay, lesbian or bisexual mates.
I haven't been in your situation myself, but several of my girlfriends (and one of my male friends from high school) have gone through it and this site was very helpful to them--if only in letting them know that they're not alone!
Good luck and I wish you the best,
Wendy
Hi Carol...
While I cannot relate in terms of being the spouse of such a person, my parents divorced in 1999 after 29 years of marriage because my father is gay and was living two separate lives for all these years...
It was handled poorly and my mom is still reeling from it... she feels like she wasted 30 years of her life and wonders where she'd be if... my dad is oblivious and after many years of living as an extreme converative is now as far out of the closet as he can be, sporting rainbow accessories and a leopard print silky scarf... I don't know how much of my childhood was real and how much of it was a lie... I'm trying to maintain relationships with both, but am much closer to my mom... my relationship with my dad is improving though...
I've known some to handle this kind of split very well and amicably, even when children have been involved... and it is actually more common than you may think... I was talking with someone from work last week about it and he said he knew someone who went through the same things I did...
I hope to get to know you better...
*hugs*
Julie
