Tuesday's Joey and work update...

Today was full of challenges... first of all, Joey started at his new school today, the one that, due to my schedule, he had never seen, so I had no clue what he would think... fortunately, despite some initial shyness, it went very well and he had a blast at his new school and has talked about it tons more than he talked about his old school ever...
Then, once I got to work, I had my two interviews... The first was with the former director of the department, who has just taken a lateral move into a new position, still within the same group, but not affliated with the dept, if that makes sense... She is the one person who can intimidate almost anyone in the entire company... she knows her stuff and she expects everything out of you... in a good way, but it can be intimdating... she put me at ease right away though as we chatted a bit about our children and what we do for them, before getting into the meat of the interview.
The second interview was a peer interview, with two of the other members of the team I would be joining. I work with both of these individuals fairly often and (now) have a good relationship with both. There were some strained issues in the past, but they were several years ago, so I am hoping that they are very much under the bridge. If they are not, it would be very surprising as we have had a comfortable working relationship for the past year and a half at the least... they gave me some good insight as to the type of manager the hiring manager is, advising that his employees come first and that family is important to him, and he understands that our families are important to each and every one of us... apparently his wife is expecting their second in just a few weeks...
All in all, I don't think that they went horribly... but I don't know how they truly went, if that makes sense. I am such a horrid judge of how it goes from this side of the table that it is hard. There are apparently three people interviewing at this time for this position... one of them is a colleague of mine and another is, well, I don't know who he is... if he's a temp in the lab or if he is an external candidate... I truly don't know...
The hiring manager is still on course to make a decision shortly... during the peer interview they mentioned that he wants to have this position filled during early June... and I'm hoping that it is me... but at the same time I'm typing that, I'm trying not to get my hopes up, in case it isn't meant to be... truth is that it is out of my hands now and that in itself is a relief. I felt so good at the end of the second interview today, just being done with this portion.
I also was talking with another colleague of mine today who overheard my boss (his cubicle is just outside my boss' office) having a conversation where he advised that ...she is always on time... she is a great worker and asset to our team... she completes her projects on time... that sort of thing... now this conversation could have been about me, or my colleague applying for this job (as she reported to my boss until just recently) or any number of other people in my dept who may be applying for other positions, but whoever it was about, it was a very positive conversation...
Anyway, that's all there is as I know it now... I appreciate all of your thoughts as I wait to hear something...
*hugs*
