Update on my weekend...

Well I was hoping for a good birthday for my oldest dd. For those of you who read the weekend thread, Sunday was DD 11th b-day. She was also to be in the girl scouts powder puff derby. This year I let her dad help with her car because he made such a fuss about it last year. Well unfortunately he made some alterations to the wheel base wich caused her car to be disqualified. I felt horrible.

My youngest got to race her car she didn't place though she did have fun. Oldest was okay because half way through everyone in the race sang happy birthday to her. Next year she wants me to help her with her car though. YDD said she would let her dad help her since he knows the rules now and as long as we draw the design for him before he helps her.

ODD girl scout leader was in charge of the event and felt really bad she couldn't compete. She did however get to race the adult car because there was nobody else to race against. Tonight she has to take snack for her GS meeting. Since it's fat Tues. I bought Mardi Gras beads for her to pass out and a giant cookie.

Hope you all had a good day!

It doesn't sound like a total washout- did the party go OK? My son won the local Pinewood Derby last year and he's looking forward to doing it again this year. Who knows- he likes the whole event- they make such a big deal out of it (picture in the paper!). I can't believe the girl's version is called Powder Puff- it's kind of sexist and cheesy sounding. My girl scout troop has never been involved- I've never heard of it. Thanks for the info. Maybe next year.

Thanks Laura,

I agree with the sexist thing. However this is the second year the our council has done this. Last year ODD won fourth place and YDD won for most unique. They were only competing against 60 girls this year there wer 112 girls signed up for the event. This tripled the amount of boys who signed up for the pine wood derby last year.

BTW I'm also having a pool party for DD at the end of March. It's at a local hotel that has water slides and such. She is really excited about that.
