First....YAY on being so close to an agreement. If you can come to this agreement, is there an actual divorce date you could secure in the near future?
Second, I know what it's like to have to hand over so much. We had to sell out house to pay ex's debts and back taxes to the IRS. A 52k profit....and I saw $1,400....all of which went to pay my car taxes. So I ended up renting a place and not getting one red cent from the sale of the house. Fortunately, I didn't have to hand over any of my retirement fund. How could your STBX even ask for that??? He is getting SUCH a sweet deal...he should NEVER complain about how he made out.
I'm so glad to hear that you are getting closer to the end... Great advice on the retirement portion, by the way... and way to go on the attorney's bill too... I remember after my divorce was finalized, I was still making monthly payments to the attorney and I got my Dec statement and there was a note with an adjustment (by half) with a Merry Christmas... I swear, even though at that point it was literally just a couple hundred dollars.... I was beyond thrilled...
Hopefully all of this will be settled sooner than you realize.... How's Ave?
Sending some *magic dust* and settlement prayers your way!
Good news on the atty too!
Hugs~ Lexi
