weird dreams with anti depressants

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with weird dreams while taking anti-dep drugs. My dreams are so vivid and real it feels like I might have actually done the things I dreamed about. The scary thing is that the things I dream about are horrible, awful images. I wake up afraid I might have driven to where OW lives and hurt her and stbx. I stopped taking them a few days ago but the dreams keep coming. Has anyone else had this problem?

Do not stop taking your medication without speaking with your MD first.. I know it took about 3 week for my body to adjust to the medication but when it did boy was life better. Also talk to your MD maybe the Rx is wrong for you and you need another brand or different dosage.
I did have weird dreams at first but they soon subsided, nothing like yours though, it was always stbx coming to get me, Hang in there and talk to your MD.

I had the same experience with effexor--talk about strange dreams...

Talk to your doctor about switching if this experience is too disturbing. If it's effexor that you are taking and you need to switch, be aware that you will suffer withdrawal symptoms as you "does down." I switched to another med after 3 months with the bad dreams and such.

Over the last 10 years I have taken-Prozac, Serazone, Welbutrin, Paxil, Effexsor, and Zoloft. I currently take Lexapro and Buspar. I can't say that any of them gave me weird vivid dreams, but everyone is different and yours could be the cause. Becareful stopping antidepressants cold turkey. The withdrawl can be really nasty. You should always titrate down. Be sure you dicuss this problem with your doctor. Good Luck!

Hi!
I can't live without my 40 mg. of Prozac! It sounds as though the one you are taking is not right for you. You were right to stop taking it...check with your doctor and consider a different med.

If you are taking Effexor, the same thing happened with me on that medication. Also had other problems like burning sensation in my chest and just flat feeling crappy. Switched to Lexapro and saw a huge difference. Try it and see. It does take a while for anything to really start kicking in, though, so best thing is to check with your doctor.

Best of luck to you and hang in there. Everybody says that, with time and patience, we really do come out of this fog stronger and happier. I'm still waiting. lol.
