First of all, thank you to all of you who sent prayers and positive thoughts our way over the past week or so. I am pleased to say that we survived the difficult parts of the week, with the funeral activities and was blessed by the company of our family and friends, many of whom I had not seen in a long time, some of which I met for the first time this trip.

Despite the sadness and the tears which came at various times during the visitation, mass and burial, there was a tremendous sense of peace, which was very comforting. I found myself looking through old photographs of my grandparents and my grandfather was always beaming when he was around my grandmother... now they are together again.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner that included my Mom and her two sisters, respective husbands, all of us grandkids were there, two with significant others, Joey, cousins from the other side of the family that all together totaled 17 people. It was quite an event. I don't know how my Aunt, who hosted Thanksgiving, as well as was primarily responsible for the funeral arrangements, etc, did it all, but she did.

Joey had a blast on his first plane flights. He had a window seat on both flights, but didn't have a window on the leg back (it would have been a view of the engine). With the car seat, we were always among the first to board and the last to get off, so on both legs, Joey was able to sit up in the pilot's seat in the cockpit--something that they suggested on the way up there and he asked for on the way down--something that I did not even realize was an option in our post 9/11 world.

I'm glad that the trip went well.
