Hello ALL! I was just curious to those of you who have filed, and stood in a courtroom with your STBX...Did you get a chance to speak?? And if you did what did you say?? I'm just getting to filing, but I was just thinking what could I say about the end of a 27 year marriage? My stbx decided to go live with his ow, and leave me and the kids to deal with the aftermath, I want to say something smart but witty, to let everyone know what an ass he is and that I will be fine without him? We live in Fla which is a no-fault state so it really wont come up that he is an adulterous bastard! No I'm not bitter hehehe ~Mary~

In MA, if you have a uncontested div, basically the judge asks if you have read the agreement, do you think it's fair, did anyone force you to sign it & do you agree there is an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage.

In my case, I approached the judge with my attorney, answered a few informational questions, the judge asked

Why? Most courts don't want to be in the middle and hear all of the stuff that people drag into court.... just trying to get in one last word or jab, so if everything is basically agreed upon, the judge technically doesn't need to see you and your attorney can be present on your behalf to get the paperwork processed.

Point being.... in TN you can get an "uncontested" divorce much faster (shorter wait period) and much cheaper (in attorney's fees) than a contested divorce.
