What Do you do??

For those of you who have a set visitation with your STBX, how do you handle the kids clothes? Do you pack them a bag every time they go to the others, or does the STBX provide clothes for them? I am just curious how everyone else handles this, please respond no matter what your visitation schedule is.

Thanks

I pack a bag but my kids pick out what clothes they want to bring (with some guidance) just as if they are home with me.

I think you just have to figure out what works for you.

My kiddos spend the night every other weekend for the most part.

My X has them usually one night a weekend (we have an open visitation schedule). I always pack a bag of clean clothes (with extras just in case). The first time he brough their clothes back dirty, I reminded him that I would send clothes to him in the condition I received them (ie: he brings them back dirty, he'll get dirty ones next time & he'll have to wash them as soon as they get there). I haven't got back dirty ones since.

He asked me for some spare clothes to leave there for them...I gave him 2 outfits, he wanted more (including extra shoes). I informed him that they will always be sent with enough clothes for their visit & if he wanted more, he was free to buy them some to keep there. I did give him basics...undies, pjs, socks...so I don't have to worry about packing them every time.

It's kind of a PITA to pack their bags, but I do it for them, not him.

The idea of the clothes washing issue never occured to me! stbx always sends the clothes back washed and I took that as common courtesy. It can be the little things.

I send clean clothes and get back dirty clothes and missing socks.

STBX makes comments like you forget this or that - I should just get it for the house. Good Idea!!!

I've read some of the other posts and like the idea of separate clothes at each house.

My kids go to their father's EOW, from school on those Fridays, with nothing but what is on their back, and their school backpack.

I send clean and get back dirty also, plus broken toys and forgotten stuffed friends. I won't go back to pick up things either (its an hour + away) and LOVE the idea of sending things dirty if it continues. Fair is fair so why should I have to do all of the work while he and the ho just get to play?

We have week to week. We both buy clothes for the girls, and the only things I'm picky about going over to his house are things that I know he'll wash wrong and ruin. I usually buy them boots and coats and shoes (dress shoes, sandles, etc.) which go back and forth in a huge Rubbermaid container with other things that you don't have 2 of.

At the end of every season, XH gives me all their clothes and I put Rosie's in the attic to save for Gracie, and sort out Gracie's outgrown clothes to save or send to the thrift shop. At the beginning of each season, I pull out all the clothes that will now fit Gracie and split them so we each have half. He's actually good about buying clothes. It's those big ticket items (coats and boots) that he can't afford. *rolling my eyes*
