What to expect?

Has anyone been through a full blown child custody case? My ex has filed for full custody on the heels of my filing for a CS modification. He makes a ton of money and not paying nearly what he should, he's mad that I would dare have this looked into..he's extremely manipulative and controlling and I"m just wondering what to expect from all this. Live in Ohio, If this continues and he doesn't drop it, I will be filing my own counter suit....I cannot lose my babies to his controlling ways. So, just wondering what to look for, what to expect, and any advice and tips...thank you!

If you already have custody, there would have to be documented abuse or neglect for him to get full custody.... he might get "shared" or more visit time, but you are perfectly within your CHILDREN'S RIGHTS to have support modified/updated.

We do already have shared parenting and the only reason he's doing this is because of the CS modification. He's so predictable, Funny how i've been a good parent for the past 4 years and now all of sudden because i file this modification, he's suddenly questioning my every move. He has a high powered attorney, and I will more than likely file my own counter-suit, based on my attorney's advice, do you think this is wise, won't the judge see through that?

If he's questioning your parenting only after you've filed for modification of support... the judge will see through that.

I agree, Karen. I am sure the judge is going to see right through his ploy. The fact that he's only doing this after an order for modification of support was filed is VERY telling.

It is a scare tactic. Most men, when served for a modification of cs, do this. The belief is that the woman will be so concerned about losing her children she will drop the initial modification.

Don't fall for it. It is a ploy.
