what to expect in court ...

in an effort to save money calling my lawyer, i thought i'd go straight to m'ladies ...
IF constable can ever locate STBX (he's moved out of his mom's home & after a drive-by by me, i don't think he's living at his business location, either) don't know where he is?! what if he can't be served with papers, will i still have a court date?
also, when we actually get to court for temp. orders, what should i expect (e.g., will the judge ask me questions directly? are there others present in court (an audience), which will make me feel even more nervous and uncomfortable because strangers will know my trifling business! also, can you "bring" others to court with you like a friend, which i'm certain STBX will bring skank GF, which i don't know HOW i'm going to react to THAT!!
one more, what if STBX just doesn't show up for court? and if he does, will i FINALLY get a child support check that day, before he leaves court--my atty is also going for 11 months back child support. will that be added to total of designated, monthly child support?
thanks in advance for the helpful responses ...

I wish there were simple answers for you!
I believe there will still be a court date, but if he doesn't show, it will be rescheduled. I'm not 100% sure about this, though.
In my case, the judge did ask me questions directly, and there were others present in the court. He just asked basics...did we think the custody arrangement would work, etc.
Christine pretty much summed up what I would've said... as far as court, there were others present, but when it was our turn, the judge called me and my attorney to the bench, and the judge just asked some basic questions.
