My wife is filing for a divorce, what if I refuse to sign the papers? Will it be final? I love my wife dearly and do not want this!

Why did you let the divorce process go this far? If you love your wife so much, what happened? Obviously, she has moved on. What is going on with you?

I am on the other end of the spectrum and would be happy to help you, but what good would it do for you to refuse to sign the papers if she wants out.

I am here to listen.

At least in Kansas, yes if she files she can get a divorce with or without you. I didn't have the money to fight my ex so now I have a divorce I never wanted. You can drag it out, but you can't stop it. I know how hopeless you are feeling right now and I am sorry. Hugs, Brenda

If you don't sign the process still continues. All that needs to be proven is that you have been served the papers. If you don't want this, get an attorney. Perhaps you can demand mediation but all you may suceed in doing is prolonging the inevitable. Many people don't want the divorce that their spouse is forcing upon them but on the other hand, why stay married to someone who no longer wants you. There is life out there you know. Good luck.

Eventually this goes to trial. If your wife wants out, it's going to happen, even if you want to stop it.

In the trial, the judge will divide the assets and debts. And deal with child support if need be.
