What's your theme song?
| Tue, 05-22-2007 - 8:09am |
I've been listening to a lot of music lately and find that some songs are really helping me in the tough moments (and some contribute to making me feel worse). So I've been thinking about the soundtrack of my life at this particular moment. I thought it might be fun to share with you guys and learn more about you.
My theme song right now is "Nothing on Me" by Shawn Colvin. I've also got a cheese anthem called "I Got Nerve" by Miley Cyrus (my kids are hannah montana fans) - with the lines "I know where I stand, I know who I am, , I would never run away when life gets bad." It reminds me to stay strong.
What's yours?

Oh my gosh... you know I *just* have a smidge over 3,100 songs on my iPod... and 80% of them are my theme in one way or another, but...
Fool, I'm A Woman by Sara Evans - when I think about my EX
Time For Me To Fly by REO Speedwagon - when I think about my EX
Stand Back Up by Sugarland - when I think about ME!
Mystery by Live - when I think about someone new
Power Windows by John Berry - when I want to appreciate a simple life
The World by Brad Paisley - I sing to my daughter
She Let Herself Go by George Strait - ME!
Your So Vain by Carly Simon - when I think about the EX car guy
just to name a few.... I'm pretty much a lyric junkie, and many, many lyrics have moved me and helped me through one emotion or another over the years.

I have just purchased an ipod and am looking to fill it with great music. I like your playlist you posted. Would love to see more of it.
Mostly lurker, but had to respond.
I just download a new ringtone on my cell phone.
"She Let Herself Go" by George Strait
Definitely my theme song!!!!!

Oh my.... I love Irreplaceable by Beyonce too! (there are just too many good ones to list them all!).
I'll see what I can do about that list :-) It's on my home computer.
Have I seen you here before?

i am mainly a lurker, but have posted a few times about my situation. I was married for 5 years and hubby was hooked on pain meds and beer. I posted a lot about whether I should stay or go but decided 2 months ago to go. I asked him to move out and he has been gone a little over a month. I have not been this happy in years and am excited about my future. I am moving into a new place this Friday and can not wait. I bought all new furniture and am ready to start over.
I would love to see your playlist if you can get it easily.

i like the wreckers: "leave the pieces when you go" for very selfish personal reasons. :-)
i truly love keith urbans entire cd "Golden Road". its obviously written out of much pain and recovery from his addictions, but the words are so inspirational. relationships can be much like an addiction, there is so much recovery involved when mending a broken heart. if you don't have it, get it. put it on your ipod and listen to it when out for a run or a walk. or just crank it up in the car.

I like One by U2 because my stbx was severly abusive. Left him 9 years ago and never looked back.
Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you
Now you got someone to blame
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
It's one love
We get to share it
It leaves you baby
If you don't care for it
Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's too late
Tonight
To drag tha past out
Into the light
We're one
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come tor raise the dead
Havew you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
We hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One
One.
isn't it funny how you know all the words to a song, but they can take on a whole new meaning when something in your life changes??
thanks for posting nania. and congrats on leaving an abusive husband and never looking back.
i don't know you but i am proud that you had the courage and strength.
