What's your theme song?

I've been listening to a lot of music lately and find that some songs are really helping me in the tough moments (and some contribute to making me feel worse). So I've been thinking about the soundtrack of my life at this particular moment. I thought it might be fun to share with you guys and learn more about you.

My theme song right now is "Nothing on Me" by Shawn Colvin. I've also got a cheese anthem called "I Got Nerve" by Miley Cyrus (my kids are hannah montana fans) - with the lines "I know where I stand, I know who I am, , I would never run away when life gets bad." It reminds me to stay strong.

What's yours?

Mine is "Anyway" by Martina McBride. Hugs, Brenda

You can spend your whole life building
something from nothing
one storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
that seems so out of reach
and you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
and when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
and it's hard to believe
that tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
for all the right reasons
and in a moment they can choose to walk away
love 'em anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
when I pray
it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yeah I do it anyway yeah

You can pour your soul out singin'
a song you believe in
that tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah sing it anyway
Yeah yeah

I sing
I dream
I love
Anyway.

Hugs, Brenda

Music helped get me through it all. Here a few of my favorites that defined my situation at the time:

Better now by Collective Soul
Landed by Ben Folds
If I were you by Hoobastank

edited to add lyrics

"BETTER NOW"

Oh I'm newly calibrated
All shiny and clean
I'm your recent adaptation
Time to redefine me

Let the word out I've got to get out
Oh I'm feeling better now
Break the news out I've got to get out
Oh I'm feeling better now

Oh I'm happy as Christmas
All wrapped to be seen
I'm your recent acquisition
Time to celebrate me

Let the word out I've got to get out
Oh I'm feeling better now
Break the news out I've got to get out
Oh I'm feeling better now

The world's done shaking
The world's done shaking
The world's done shaking me down

The world's done shaking
The world's done shaking
The world's done shaking me down

"LANDED"

We'd hit the bottom,
I thought it was my fault
And in a way I guess it was
I'm just now finding out
What it was all about

Moved to the west coast away from everyone
She never told me that you called
Back when I was still, I was still in love

Till I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried
And I twisted it wrong just to make it right
Had to leave myself behind
I've been flying high all night
So come pick me up...I've landed

The daily dramas she made from nothing
So nothing ever made them right
She liked to push me and talk me back down
Until I believed I was the crazy one,
and in a way
I guess I was...

But I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
And it's bye-bye, goodbye I tried
Treading a sea of a troubled mind
Had to leave myself behind
Singing bye-bye, goodbye I tried

If you wrote me off I'd understand it
Because I've been on some other planet
So come pick me up...
I've landed

And you will be so
happy to know
I've come alone,
it's over

But I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
And it's by my goodbye I tried
Down comes the reign of the telephone czar
It's OK to call
Now I'll answer for myself

Come pick me up,
...I've landed

"IF I WERE YOU"

If I Were You

You seem to find the dark, when everything is bright
You look for all that's wrong, instead of all that right
Does it feel good to you? To rain on my parade
You never say a word, unless it's to complain...
It's driving me insane

If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands.
The first thing I'd do, is thank the stars for all that I have...
If I Were You

Look what's around you now, more than you ever dreamed
Have you forgotten just, how hard it use to be?
So what's it going to take? For you to realize
That all could go away, in one blink of an eye...
It happens all the time

If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands.
The first thing I'd do, is thanks the stars above, tell the ones I love...
That I do

Yea If I Were You,
Whoa, yea If I Were You
If I Were You, whoaaaa
Yea If I Were You

So what's it going to take? For you to realize
If all could go away, in one blink of an eye... it happens all the time!

If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands.
The first thing I'd do, is thanks the stars above, tell the ones I love...
Take a breath and enjoy the view
Live the life that I wanted to
If I Were You... If I Were You... If I Were You!

Enjoy!

Melanie

I have 2 songs, both by Triumph, a band that I loved when I was a young teenager in the early 1980s... The songs spoke to me in 1981 when I was 14, and once again, now that I'm 39. I'm SO glad a rediscovered them after so many years.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT
Music & Lyrics by RIK EMMETT

The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long
Feels like we're running out of time
Every day it seems much harder tellin' right from wrong
You got to read between the lines

Don't get discouraged, don't be afraid, we can
Make it through another day
Make it worth the price we pay

The Good Book says it's better to give than to receive
I do my best to do my part
Nothin' in my pockets I got nothin' up my sleeve
I keep my magic in my heart

Keep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby
I am counting on you
You know what you've got to do

Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
It's your only way

All your life you've been waiting for your chance
Where you'll fit into the plan
But you're the master of your own destiny
So give and take the best that you can

You think a little more money will buy your soul some rest
You'd better think of something else instead
You're so afraid of being honest with yourself
You'd better take a look inside your head

Nothing is easy, nothing good is free
But I can tell you where to start
Take a look inside your heart
There's an answer in your heart

MAGIC POWER
Music & Lyrics by Rik Emmett

Somethin's at the edge of your mind, you don't know what it is
Somethin' you were hopin' to find but you're not sure what it is
Then you hear the music and it all comes crystal clear
The music does the talkin' says the things you want to hear

I'm young, I'm wild and I'm free
I got the magic power of the music in me

She climbs into bed, pulls the covers overhead and
Turns her little radio on
She's had a rotten day so she hopes the dj's gonna play her
Favourite song
It makes her feel much better, brings her closer to her dreams
A little magic power makes it better than it seems

She's young now, she's wild now, she wants to be free
She gets the magic power of the music from me

If you're thinkin' it over but you just can't sort it out
Do you want someone to tell you what they think it's all about
Are you the one and only who's sad and lonely,
Reaching for the top
Well the music keeps you goin' and it's never gonna stop

The world is full of compromise, the infinite red tape
But the music's got the magic it's your one chance for escape
So turn me on-turn me up-it's your turn to dream
A little magic power makes it better than it seems

I usually buy my music from iTunes or upload my purchased CDs to iTunes.

Remember.... if it's "free", most likely it's not legal and the artists don't get paid for their work.

I don't know the name but the lyrics go "If you're going through hell, keep on going....". Seems it's been one thing after another since stbx announced he was leaving.
