What's your theme song?

I've been listening to a lot of music lately and find that some songs are really helping me in the tough moments (and some contribute to making me feel worse). So I've been thinking about the soundtrack of my life at this particular moment. I thought it might be fun to share with you guys and learn more about you.

My theme song right now is "Nothing on Me" by Shawn Colvin. I've also got a cheese anthem called "I Got Nerve" by Miley Cyrus (my kids are hannah montana fans) - with the lines "I know where I stand, I know who I am, , I would never run away when life gets bad." It reminds me to stay strong.

What's yours?

yayafan...

Pianoguy actually has 3....and all of them are keyed into his personality:

"BY MYSELF"---(the Fred Astaire version from the movie: "THE BANDWAGON").

"IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND"---Gordon Lightfoot

and from her "Stay the Night" album....Jane Oliver singing "THE RIGHT GARDEN TO GROW IN"

Hi Karen!

If Pianoguy could sing as well as Mr. Lightfoot...now would be a perfect time to re-record the song. .

What surprises me is that few people are familiar with the Jane Oliver song:

THE RIGHT GARDEN
"You know we're now barely getting through
Each time you failed took some part of you
It made you feel that you would never succeed
But soon you had the magnet you need"

CHORUS: "You've got to find THE RIGHT GARDEN to grow in
Where the right kind of raindrops will fall
And the hope in your heart's comin' from knowin'
Someday you'll find it after all!"

"Those deep sad eyes see a trail of tears
You've come so close for so many years
Your dusty shoes don't know which path to pursue
But on you go as if you always knew?"

CHORUS: "You've got to find THE RIGHT GARDEN to grow in
Where the right kind of raindrops will fall
And the hope in your heart's comin' from knowin'
Someday you'll find it after all!"

"The wind will change as it has before
You face the dark and try once more
In the clouds you'll see the sun streaming down
And you will stand on your own special ground"

CHORUS: "Then you have found THE RIGHT GARDEN to grow in
Where the right kind of raindrops will fall
And the hope in your heart's comin' from knowin'
Someday you'll find it after all
Someday you'll find it...af--ter---all!"

Holy Crap, Batman, I'm bawling at those lyrics. I never really thought of what it all meant and I sing it everytime I hear it.

Going thru a separation right now and loving him more than life still these two are it...

Daughtry "What About Now?"
Shadows fill an empty heart
As love is fading,
From all the things that we are
But are not saying.
Can we see beyond the scars
And make it to the dawn?

Change the colors of the sky.
And open up to
The ways you made me feel alive,
The ways I loved you.
For all the things that never died,
To make it through the night,
Love will find you.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

The sun is breaking in your eyes
To start a new day.
This broken heart can still survive
With a touch of your grace.
Shadows fade into the light.
I am by your side,
Where love will find you.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love, it never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

Now that we're here,
Now that we've come this far,
Just hold on.
There is nothing to fear,
For I am right beside you.
For all my life,
I am yours.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

and this one..

U2 "With or Without You"

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And Im waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I cant live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, shes got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I cant live
With or without you

With or without you
With or without you
I cant live
With or without you
With or without you

that one mostly because we were riding out in the open road with the stars above us once night while not quite dating and in a convertible Mustang. The song came on and it was so peaceful. No one but us out there that I can recall and I wanted him to take my hand. He didn't. We were both too scared to make that move. It was innocent and the music was perfect for that peaceful night. The wind was cool and calm and I fell for him in that instant.

Been seperated almost 18 months and so redy for the divorce. Court date in July. Been thru the rebound relationship and now with an awesome guy, so I have several theme songs:

For my new man: Memories of Us....Keith Urban
Don't Matter....Akon
Sweet Escape.... Gwen Stefani and Akon

For rebound guy: Far Away by Nickelback

For ex husband to be....Boston by Augustana

AUGUSTANA LYRICS

"Boston"

In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun...
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must've crossed... you said...

You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,

Essential yet appealed, carry all your thoughts across
An open field,
When flowers gaze at you... they're not the only ones who cry
When they see you
You said...

You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,

She said I think I'll go to Boston...
I think I'll start a new life,
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather,
I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain...
I think I'll go to Boston,
I think that I'm just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind...
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset,
I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice... oh yeah,

Boston... where no one knows my name... yeah
Where no one knows my name...
Where no one knows my name...
Yeah Boston...
Where no one knows my name

I have quite a few but I will narrow it down to the top 3 for right now:

3. Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson
2. I Want to be Loved - Bon Jovi
1. Over You - Daughtry

The words for Over You are unbelieveable. I could have written them myself! Here they are:

"Now that it’s all said and done
I can’t believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I fell too far, was in way too deep
Guess I let you get the best of meeee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, time agooo!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally gettin’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say,
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of other’s opened up
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for meee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, time agooo!
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I’m slowly getting closure
I guess it’s really over
I’m finally getting’ better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
‘Cause the day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo
And I never thought I’d doubt you
I’m better off without you

And I never saw it coming
I should have started running
I’m finally getting better
Now I’m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!

The day I thought I’d never get through
I got over you…"

It is amazing though how songs I've listened to for so long take on new meanings!

Well I noticed that the new song by Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry pretty much sums it up, but I cry EVERY time I hear it!! Guess I'm not a "big girl" yet! LOL
