Where do I start for filing desertion?

Hi Gals!
I've been separated from the world's biggest bum (bet nobody else feels that way, eh?) for over four years now. At first, I couldn't get a divorce because he was pilfering money from the military by claiming me as a dependant, and the law bars default rulings when one party is active duty. Well, he's been out for awhile now, I have no idea where he is, no way to find out, and P.I.'s cost a whole lot more money than I have.
So, does anyone know if I can file desertion and where I would start? There has been, of course, no support money coming in and both of us have our own families now. I don't have any idea why he would be resisting divorce at this point unless he has some unknown source of money that he's getting by claiming a married status, but the spineless wimp won't reveal himself and all I want is to legally be rid of him! So, any ideas?

I don't know what state you are in but in Florida, you can file an uncontested divorce, put the notification in the news paper if you have no known address and run the ad for 30 days to give him ample opportunity to respond.

Peace,

Di

Lawyers in my area will do a free consultation, even the most expensive ones! WHy not call a few and see? You might find out it is not too big a deal, certainly cheaper than if he were around to be divorced from.
