xh earns two points...

Today was Joey's graduation from his daycare... he's moving on to pre-K in the fall, but has been at this same place since he was 3 1/2 months old, so it really feels like the end of an era...

I had told xh about Joey's graduation a while ago, but he wasn't sure if he could come as his schedule changes quite frequently... (some may be true, some may be b.s.... don't know, don't care)...

Long story short... xh had to work all night last night, but when he got off work this morning, he drove from New Orleans to GA for Joey's graduation... after having a glass of wine before the ceremony to take the edge off, I think the evening went very well... (I pretty much ignored him and if he wanted to talk to me, he had to make the effort to get and keep my attention)... Joey was thrilled he was there and was just beaming that much more as he recited the Pledge of Allegiance... afterwards, our celebratory dinner was to Pizza Hut (Joey's choice, of course... it's his night)...

Joey is spending the night as xil's house (despite much yelling and protest because he wants to snuggle his mommy) and is getting the chance to spend more time with xh, which he needs... I'll be working tomorrow and will either pick Joey up tomorrow night or Sunday, depending on how things go... xh will be in town tomorrow and will head back on Sunday for work that evening, but I have to say that xh did earn a couple of points by making the point to be here for his graduation tonight...

Hope that everyone has a nice weekend...

*hugs*

OK...OK.....I'll give the guy 1/2 a point...just because he's been so absent in the past. When he does a few more things for Joey, I'll give him the other 1.5 points ;)

Honestly, that is great that he showed up. Maybe this is the start of something new for him! One can only hope.

Good for you. It sounds like you put your son's need for his dad first.

Just a little update...

I spoke with xmil yesterday morning and she let me know that Joey calmed down once they were out of my neighborhood, where Joey knew where he was and was attempting to tell them how to take him home...

I had a pleasant day (for having to work on a Saturday) at work and then called them to check on them again... they had spent the day at the Rennaissance Festival here in GA... something that they like to do every year... something I like to do too, but with the recent influx of air shows, I just didn't have it in me this year... so Joey ran around and had fun all day with his father and family... he got to play a lot of games there, ride ponies and all sorts of other fun things... by the time I called at 7pm, he was zonked out for the first time all day and would likely stay that way for the night (I haven't called yet for an update)...

I'm thrilled that he was able to have this time with his father and that I was able to have a break last night and part of today... am going to do a little shopping for a baby blanket I need to make for a friend--have to find the perfect yarn and need to get my nails done too... it will be nice to do that without having Joey with me getting bored, as he so often does when I go yarn shopping...

Hope that all of you had a nice weekend!

You're probably right Rebecca... I have been told that before, both in dealing with xh and other issues, including work...

Joey had a great weekend and I got the extra benefit of having some time to myself for once... so all in all it worked out for all!

*hugs*
