XH called again tonight to talk to Joey and then finished up by needing to talk to me. I had been talking to his mom right up until he called, so we had all the details worked out, but xh plans on getting into town about 5pm tomorrow night and staying at his parents and going out with the guys first night there... my xbil will be picking Joey up from school and taking him over there to spend the weekend with xh... yeah, as minimal contact as necessary... and not having Joey means that I should be able to shop for that semi formal I have in a couple of weeks... is a work event, but still need dress, shoes, etc...

I'm excited for Joey... they should get to spend the vast majority (with the exception of tomorrow night) with his father... hopefully it will continue the rebuilding of bridges that I have feared were burned prior to xh calling nightly to talk to Joey...

Keep your fingers crossed!

Kind of sad that he has everyone in his family doing his work for him such as picking the boy up and all. It would seem that you shouldn't have to make all the arrangements through his mother. Sounds like he needs to grow up. Hopefully he'll starting "getting it" once he has more visitation with his son.

I just don't get it. Guys think that we're supposed to throw them a parade for doing the minimal. I don't see anyone giving us any credit for all we do for our kids.

You're right, he still does have a bit of growing up to do... he didn't pick Joey up from school because he did not get into town until after his school had closed (had a longer than normal drive out of New Orleans due to so many highways, etc being damaged) and his brother works close to Joey's school, so it is convienent... as for my xmil, we have a great relationship to this day... my xils have supported us from the beginning of the divorce (finalized in 2004) and we talk several times a week, still see them every weekend and spend most holidays with them... so even though my son has not had a great relationship with xh due to distance, he still has a very strong relationship with that side of his family, which I feel is critically important.

But you're right... I don't think he gets how involved it is... xh moved out of the house during early summer 2003 and really hasn't spent more than a few hours with him at a time since then... in December my mil and her sister took Joey to New Orleans to visit his father for a few days and that was the longest visit... hopefully this will open his eyes a bit (I can tell you that it makes me feel better knowing that his mom is there)...
