I have a girlfriend who is having some problems at the moment she is 40 years of age and 8 years older than me. I have noticed some changes in her and i am concerned for her. She has been acting really strange lately. She is finding it hard to sleep at night, she is moody and irritable with me and the kids, she is tired all the time, lack of interest in sex and other activities. she has touble remebering things shes said only a few hours ago, she tells me she has problems with going to the toilet but she will not see the doctor. she just wants to lie on the lounge and watch tv, she tells me shes hot when it is cold. It takes alot for her to give me a hug or a kiss a times. Could she be going through the change of life. I need some advice on what to do, because i dont want to loose her.

I am not a doctor but from what you explained I think she is having a pre-menauposal (or may be even menauposal) depression. This is a very common condition in 40+ year old women. Try to be patient with her and insist that she gets medical help. This condition is easily cured by a single pill. And if she is having an early menaupose, it is possible to postpone it for another couple of years by the help of medications.

Just a few things for you to think about...one, she could be depressed.

Two, she could be having pre-menopausal syptoms...I've heard symptoms can occur years before the actual change. Another thing to check into is a thyroid problem believe it or not. I was having similar symptoms for months...but just figured it was stress..working, the kids, the house, pms, etc...but ended up with a high fever for six days...the dr. ran numerous tests..and automatically checked my thyroid when I told him my symptoms. Very common in women!

Look into:

Pre-menapause

Early Menapause

Hypo Thyroid Disease

Celiac Disease

Chron's Disease

Her symptoms match all of these.... and she should see a doctor immediately, if she cares about herself, her children OR yoU!! I have Celiac and know alot about gut-immune diseases... and left undiagnosed this long or any further, she is at risk for cancer, colitis, and malnutrition- which can lead to anything! Get her to a doctor ASAP!! and do a quick search online about the above diagnosis' to see if their symptoms match any you may have missed or brushed off. Many blessing....
