Am I too Critical?

My husband and I have been married for 4 years. I think his behavior is becoming more and more bizarre. He becomes obsessed with things were that is all he will talk about for weeks. When he does something he does it the exact same way everytime. He also seems to have "rules" about everything. For example, he absolutely refuses to ride in a car if he is not the driver.

This behavior is driving me crazy. I have asked him if he thinks he has a problem and he doesn't think he does. Am I being too critical of him?

I THINK YOU ARE PROBALY BEGINNING TO SEE THINGS THAT YOU JUST CHOSE TO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IN THE BEGINNING...HOW LONG HAVE YOU TWO BEEN TOGETHER. (BEFORE MARRIAGE) MY HUSBAND DOES THIS ALL THE TIME..HE GETS INVOLVED IN SOMETHING NEW AND IT CONTROLS HIS LIFE BEFORE HE GETS BORED WITH IT!!! I JUST LAUGH AT HIM AND TELL HIM HE NEEDS TO GET A LIFE..LOL. AS FAR AS THE DRIVING..I AM THAT WAY SO I CANNOT COMPLAIN ON THAT ONE! IT MAKES ME FEEL SAFER KNOWING I HAVE CONTROL OF THE SITUATION. I WAS IN A CAR WRECK WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND HAVE BEEN THIS WAY EVER SINCE. I DO THINK THAT MAYBE YOU ARE JUST A BIT CRITICAL ..BUT IT CAN BE VERY NERVE RACKING WHEN LIVING WITH SOMEONE LIKE THIS! TRUST ME..I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM. I THINK IT IS MOSTLY YOUR NERVES TALKING..THEY CANNOT HANDLE IT ANYMORE! LOL ... GOOD LUCK

has anything happened recently that would make him in more need of "control"?Has he ever sought medical attention for what seems to be a compulsive - obsessive disorder? Thing is, before he gets help, he needs to admit and beleive that he actaully has a problem, if indeed, he does have one.

I would ask him in a nonconfrotational way to see a doctor because you are worried about him and want to ensure that hes around to be with you for awhile.Putting it to him that this would actually help you ,if he went to see a professionnal makes this less about him possibly having an ailment and more about protrecting you.

Good luck,

I know people who are anal retentive - and it appears that way to you because you are around him all the time. But to me - it sounds like your husband may be OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder. I believe that people who are diagnosed with this disorder - are extremely meticulous and have to be in complete control at all times. You might want to check out some websites about this disorder and gasp a better concept on what is going on with your husband.

Good luck....
