Borderline personality disorder Help!
| Tue, 08-03-2004 - 7:25am |
Hello everyone,
I posted about a month ago - got lots of great advice and support. Thank you to all of you.
I have recently discovered that my boyfriend of 5 years has BPD. I know this isn't the right forum for this kind of discussion, but maybe someone out there has experience with this?? or can direct me to an online support group?
I would appreciate it so much. I've always wondered what was wrong with our relationship - and now I may be able to take the right direction with some help
Thanks again in advance

I would suggest reading Stop Walking on Egg Shells, It has really helped me to understand, and I have not even finished reading it yet.
Here is a news group that is for people that are planning on staying with their Bordline Line Personality S/O

Good Luck

Ironically, I've ordered the "Walking on Eggshells..." book and am anxiously awaiting its delivery.
Are you currently involved with a BPD, Holly or are you just reading the book to expand your knowledge?
I tried the link to the website you suggested but it didn't work. Maybe because I'm trying from France and the Internet is iffy in the countryside here.
I could sure use some words of hope as I've feel as though I've been living through hell the last 5 years. At least now I know what I'm dealing with, but my esteem, my inner strength, my spirit are at an all time low. I have never felt such emptiness and lack of hope. Maybe it's too late, but even if it is, atleast I know WHY I have had such immense difficulties the past 5 years with this man. Thank God for that.
Anyway, thank you both for the trouble. Again, I appreciate your help!

Below is some more information that I found. You can subscribe, via that email address.
I believe that my husband is BPD. I did a lot of research, because I knew that something just was not right and came up with BPD.
I know what you are going through!! and just having someone say hey I understand can make the world of difference. We live in our own little hell. I have always felt like I was on a roller coaster, but you never know if its going to go up or down!
The book Stop Walking on Egg Shells will let give you a peak into their world. It will also teach you that you can not change them, we can only change how we relate to them.
I no longer will shoulder his anger and rages, when he gets like that I just walk away, tell him I am sorry that he is anger, but I am not and I am not accepting his anger. It actually does help, the rages are shorter and he does now apologies after ( well most of the time).
If you would like to have someone to email to be a shoulder and listen, and let you know, yeah you are not alone in this you can email me at hollym@support.bright.net
