Christian remarriage

I feel so helpless. I don't really know where to ask this question. My boyfriend has informed me that he accepts now why he has felt so uncomfortable in our relationship.
He was baptised and became a Christian over a year ago.
According to the bible he may not marry again because he was divorced. He feels that to stay in God's favor he must remain single and celibate for the rest of his life. I asked him to think about this for a while before making a firm decision.
We do love each other very much. I would not want to compromise his beliefs. This really is a decision he has to make on his own. I just wish there was something I could do. I would like to shake him and scream "why can't you just be like everybody else?"
I wish there was a counselor or a website that could help him feel comfortable in deciding to be with me. I can't lose him!

Welcome to the board krisfinn,
He's got a huge internal conflict regarding his belief system.
I am so sorry to hear of your situation. I don't know what denomination he has been baptized into, but certainly there are many wonderful Christians and Christian denominations which permit re-marriage. His decision is an extreme one. I don't think that a psychologist is right for him, but perhaps you can find a priest or minsiter who he respects and trusts who can talk this over with him. Even in the Catholic church there are annulments and the ability to start again. You can point to all the wonderful Christians who have re-married and had a marriage based in the word and work of God.
All good wishes,

It sounds to be that he's decided on this belief system (organization, Church) because maybe he believes in a punishing God and feels he doesn't deserve long-term happiness, marriage, etc.
Are you sure this is on the up and up?
I am sending a letter about my God, and how God is good and wants us to be happy.
