My boyfriend and I recently broke up about one month ago. He broke up with me because he said that he just didn't want a girlfriend right now. We are currently talking and are "friends". He says that he still has feelings for me. We also still say, "I Love You" to each other--but I won't say it unless he does. He still calls and we still hang out together. At one point, I decided to tell him that maybe we shouldn't talk any more because I couldn't handle being "just friends". He didn't like this idea too much and so I gave in and continued talking to him. On top of that, I stayed the night at his house Christmas night. It was cool because we both had fun. We ended up kissing and falling asleep on the couch together. Even though we had fun, this was probably a big no no. I don't know what to do. Also, this past Saturday, Jan. 3rd, he took me shopping to pick out a christmas gift. He said i could get anything that I wanted. I didn't really feel comfortable with this so I just picked out a belt. Somethings he does leads me to believe that he does want to get back together eventually. If he does I just don't know how long to wait around, or even if I should at all. I love him dearly so if I have to let go, it will be very hard. Please help me on what I should do, I am very confused and lost with this situation. Any advice is welcome and surley needed.

don't give him the girlfriend-y benefits of your company at all and don't spend too much time with him until he says something outright.
don't talk to him about it unless he brings it up. he should be the one to initiate this and he won't do it if you bring it up.
play your cards right. you might not want him if you got back with him, but if he wants to, since he's the one doing the breaking up - it's up to him.
your job is to behave like your life is full and you have friends and family and things to do! go out with other guys, too. it'll give you some exposure and practice dating (and you might meet someone really nice and cute... haha) and it will also make you less available to your ex, which is exactly what he probably doesn't want.
so, instead of talking about this with him, behave differently and distantly (you ARE broken up, after all, right?) and allow him to feel less important.
