Hi,

I have a very independent, single-minded and hermit-like husband who suffers from mild depression.

Well, this is quite a situation. If you are pregnant, and if it just happened by itself, (as it seems), then this is something that both of you have to deal with. I hope he is not so fragile that he cannot deal with any of life's surprises, gifts and challenges. But life does bring along much that we do not expect. In part it's a way to help us grow.

Don't approach it with the idea that he will go into a bottomless depression. Don't approach it like a catastrophe, but as something that happened and that could even be joyous and uplifting for both of you.

Welcome to the board anjuanja,

First off. Don't start worrying about this too much until you know for sure that you are pregnant. You said you won't even know for sure until the first of the month, but if you think you already are pregnant now you should be able to find out my then because you usually can get a positive pregnancy test 14 after you have ovulated which from today's date would be April 30th. So you would have just became pregnant now and you wouldn't have any symptoms yets.

Second. If he didn't want any children he could have been using protection to ensure that you wouldn't have any children.
