Good relationship books?

Hello,

I have been having problems with my boyfriend for a very long time. I have been looking around for good books to help us with our problems. I found, "Getting the Love you Want" by Harville Hendrix and I loved the book but he would not do the exercises with me. What kind of book can I get that he will do with me? We are going to therapy now but his mission is to prove me wrong and him right. I want us to work things out but I am not sure this will happen. What kind of books have helped you?

Thanks everyone!

Sam

Welcome to the board Sam,

My co-cl Carrie usually recommends these books. I will post them since she is on vacation.

Are You The One For Me? Barbara DeAngelis

Five Love Languages, Gary Chapman

Relationship Rescue by Phil McGraw

The mission to prove you wrong and himself right isn't a good attitude to have if you are trying to work on rebuilding the relationship. I hope he changes his point of view on that.

Good luck.

Men are from Mars/Women are from Venus and Mars and Venus Together Forever are good ones. I really like Dr. Phil's book too -Relationship Rescue.

I also recommend the book "Your Sacred Self" by Wayne Dyer.

Nothing you can do can change the fact that he wants to proove you wrong and him right. As Dr. Phil states "do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?" Wayne Dyers states " when given the opportunity to be kind or right, choose kindness."

You need to change the way you think and focus on you for starters.
