I am coming to terms with the fact that my husband is a habitual liar.

I think it's mandatory, absolutely obligatory, that he finds a therapist (or better yet, psychologist) so that he can understand why he feels the need to lie. Perpetual or chronic lying is a sign that something deeper is going on and it's difficult to figure out, and get rid of, on one's own. Some people lie to make themselves seem more interesting. Some lie because they really live in an alternate reality that they've convinced themselves is true. Some do it for other, more conscious reasons and it becomes habit. It's really important that he is able to get to the bottom of it and professional help is key.

Welcome to the board almostthere1213,

::Now I feel like he's this totally false person, and I don't understand why he even bothered marrying me.

A relationship based on lies is not a relationship.
