In a long relationship that was not good for the last yr and 1/2. Broke up awhile ago but still talked. Recently told him that it is better we don't talk at all and now I regret it. Any advice on how to tell whether its guilt or that I really regret it b/c I want to be with him.

It is hard to determine if it's guilt, sadness, grief or because you still want a friendship/relationship with them. However, if it was bad and you think you want to get back with them - then what's going to change to fix it so it will be a better relationship?

Part of getting over someone is to grieve for the end of the relationship. Grieve for what might have been, for what could have been, for what you hoped would have been. Take some time to sit with how you feel, embrace the feelings, write about them, like journaling. Vent on paper. Wait a few days or weeks before deciding to contact him again. The feeling may pass.

My best to you.
