Help with GF's Facial Hair!

Hello All,

This is a question for everyone here as well as Dr. Shoshanna.

My girlfriend is a rather pretty girl--except for one thing that has been bothering me a bit: she has some facial hair on the corners of her lips, and she has some on her chin too.

There are loads of options for unwanted hair. Everything from bleaching to waxing and even permanent hair removal. It's not a difficult problem to fix.

As far as how to raise the issue, it really depends on her personality. When my husband bluntly commented on my disappearing waistline, I was grateful for his openness and it prompted me to loose that extra 10lbs I'd been carrying. But other women could find the same approach upsetting.

Does she like lots of tact or does she prefer a straight shooter?

Welcome to the board bourne2008,

I agree with true.blue.strine, you know her better than us as far as approach.

Or does she have her own sister who could approach her?

As an alternative, if you get her a gift certificate to a beauty therapist.... after she's booked the appt, tell the therapist your thoughts. Trust me, beauty therapists are VERY skilled with on-sell.

Dear All,

Thank you so much for your help.

She does not have a sister; I have one but I hardly ever see her.

If you give her a gift certificate for waxing, she's going to know immediately that you are displeased with her hairiness, which is almost the same as having the conversation you dread. Give her a spa gift certificate that starts with a beauty consultation. The consultant will discuss all her issues straight-forwardly, because she will want to sell your girlfriend a package that will keep her coming back.

The certificate should be for pedicure/maniure and/or a facial with the cost of the wax added. Let the gal at the spa recommend the wax.

My sister went on a trip with her best friend

I was listening to Dr Laura yesterday and she had a man call in that said he worked with women with big boobs.

But a mustache is so easy to get rid of, it's not a boob job or exercising 5 days a week... I don't understand at all what the opposition is, if I had facial hair that bothered my guy even slightly I'd want to know about it.
