I've been dating my current boyfriend for about 3 1/2 years, and in my opinion, things are great. The problem is if you ask for his opinion.

He's my best friend, two years older than me, and now we're both in college together. For 2 years, I was in high school while he was in university. Now we're both there, and he seems disappointed in the general outcome of his efforts to keep the relationship alive. Maybe it's because I expected it to slow down a bit for the first month (to account for adjusting, meeting new people, etc).

To be perfectly honest it sounds as though he's on the verge of breaking up with you.

People change during college, it's inevitable. The way he's feeling could be from a number of different factors - too many to list. He could just not feel the same about you anymore, after 3 and a half years together and going through such life-changing phases of life. Maybe he's interested in dating other people. Maybe his expectation of a relationship just isn't the same anymore. I understand being in college and wanting that "new relationship smell" again.

Perhaps you two should consider taking a break for a month or two and seeing how things go. It could be very revealing.

Welcome to the board Jenna,

Now that you have figured out what the problems are you can working on fixing them. You pointed out that you need to date more so start doing it. Go to the movies together, bowling, for walks, dancing, etc. Also make more of an effort to talk to each other. Tell him what is on your mind and how you are feeling.

Good luck.

Welcome to the board Jenna,

There are things you can do to help the situation, but if he's bored, it's kind of him to fix that.
