Me and my boyfriend do EVERYTHING together and the past few days he has been really irritable and short with me, then last night he decided he was going out but said he wanted to go out alone. He ended up calling me an hour later telling me he missed me and was on his way home. I was just wondering how often do you or your man go out alone or with friends other than your spouse??

In my last relationship we typically saw each other friday saturday and sunday evenings and once or twice during the week - usually during weekend days he either worked on his theater stuff, attended a book group, ran errands, etc. I work a lot and so does he. During the week I did volunteer work one evening a week, he usually had a committee meeting, had to work late, or met a friend(s) for dinner or drinks. It works out well for me that way I want to avoid the irritability of too much time with the same person and I don't see wanting to spend 24/7 with a person as an indication of healthy love.

Well, we live together so the only time we are not together is when we're at work.

Then I think you have to make a real effort to have alone time and apart time - develop outside interests and friendships. My married friends don't spend all their time together when they're not at work - doing so I think can cause the relationship to feel co-dependent or stale - or cause irritability as in your case.
