so ive been with my bf for a year now ( we are long distance, and have been the whole time)...we visit pretty much every month.
now, my question is this-- i feel that earlier in the relationship he used to tell me that he loved me WAY more than now. i used to get I LOVE YOU TEXTS, and pretty regularly on the phone he would say it as well...pretty much every day/ other day. now, i barely ever hear it. he never says it anymore. in the past 2 weeks, he has said it ONCE....and i feel like its because i said it first. is this his way of not lieing-- maybe he doesnt love me, so he doesnt want to say it?
or is this a normal thing in relationships as time goes by? i sord of hinted at it, and he said that hes comfortable enough in our relationship, not to think about those things. but i just dont get it-- why all of a sudden, has he completly stopped saying it?!

Welcome to the board misstullips,
My husband and I have been together for 3 1/2 years. I couldn't tell you how many times I day we say I love you. It is a lot though.
If he is important to you that your bf say it, than let him know that it is important to you. If you don't tell him, than he won't know that anything is wrong.

I hate to say it but I have to be honest, that's the most likely answer if he all of a sudden stopped telling you he loves you. If you brought it up to him, that should have set off a trigger in his head for him to start saying it more often. Instead he deflected it and told you to stop worrying. I think that's kind of a bad sign.
Is there anything else that has indicated he has grown more distant?
As for your question, after three years together, we still say it several times a day. Sometimes a short text just to say it, but at least once a day.

I tell my husband that I love him a few times per week.
