Hurt feelings from in-laws

My husband and I eloped almost six years ago, needless to say his parents were upset(and rightly so) that they were not involved. This is my second marraige, so my parent were not as upset. At the time my husband had told me his parents had two diamonds for their two sons to give for engagement rings. We never were in egaged, so I was never given a ring(which I understand and am okay with) However, his oldest brother has been dating a girl for 3 months and wants to ask her to marry him. My in laws sent my brother in law a diamond and also sent my husband a diamond to give to me - with the stipulation that my brother in laws fiance gets hers first. This has hurt my feelings, i feel like i'm not getting it on my own merit, but they are only giving it to me because they don't want me to feel bad. My husband thinks I am being very selfish. Am I?? I am also five months pregnant with my first child and am very emotional. Should I accept the diamond?

No you aren't being selfish and yes take the diamond its a diamond :) It sounds like your inlaws are the one with the problem i wouldn't even worry about it especially since your preggers you need to be relaxing and ejoying it. Hope everything goes well

I definitely agree - focus on your pregnancy and don't worry about these people. Accept the diamond and put it away someplace if you are uncomfortable with it. Maybe you will want to pass it on to your child someday. By that time, this little issue will be ancient history.

I can't image why you would worry about this. (Although I haven't been pregnant myself.) Why would you care about this either way? How is your relationship with your husband? To me that would matter more than jewelry.
