You haven't said whether you have communicated this to him.

If so, you can't expect him to change after all of this time.

Welcome to the board reader8675,

If you've accepted not getting gifts for 4 years, it's going to be very hard to get him to meet your expectations.

Welcome to the board reader8675,

Have you let him know how much this bothers you?

Do you have any other problems in your relationship besides this?

I've deffinately tried to tell him in the past, but he always just says that I'm being selfish etc.

You have already let him know that it's important to you to receive presents and he still witholds. No one can force anyone to give them gifts, respect their wishes or make them happy. If you've already told him and he continues not to listen, this turns you into a beggar. There's a deeper issue here. You should take a look at your entire relationship. Something is off. I don't know what it is as I don't know both of you, but it's not natural to behave in this manner. He may either be unwilling to give, witholding or angry about something that's going on. Whatever it is, it's up to you to explore more deeply what's at the bottom of this.

Also, ask yourself, what you feel you truly deserve in a relationship? What you are willing to live with and what doesn't matter that much. See if this is the kind of relationship you really want.

Best wishes,

Sounds like you could be in a rut. Try going out on dates together to rekindle some of the excitement.
