men afraid of having children?

Hi,
My guy MOSTLY wants to have kids, but is hung up on, what I think are, typical male fears: having kids will take away our freedom. I am afraid of this, too, but think that having children will be so rewarding that we won't miss our freedom as much as we think we will.
He always talks about having kids as this thing the future, like how he would want to raise our kids, what names he likes (he was even carrying around a list of potential baby names in his wallet a while ago), how he feels about daycare versus stay-at-home moms, etc. But, when it comes down to asking WHEN he wants to have him, he always brings up these fears.
Has anyone else had a man who voiced these concerns before having kids? How was it resolved? Or was it?
